Moonriver Lodge, Sigar Highlands
FOR OUR CHILDREN'S CHILDRENMoonriver Lodge 3D Experience
This was the amazing work of our dear family member completed on 20 June 2011, based on 600+ photos.
Thank you, Prof Cham Tat Jen!

1. A synth of Moonriver Lodge and the immediate surrounds, via Microsoft Photosynth. The synth is based on 419 photos, and theoretically allows the user to navigate from photo to photo in spatially-intuitive way (in practice the navigation is very nice between some specific locations in the synth, but there are also many counter-intuitive moves).
2. A 3D reconstructed model of the Sensory Waterfall in the form of a 3D textured polygonal mesh. The reconstruction is based on 195 photos

Additional notes from the designer :
If you have Google Earth installed on your system, you should be able to just double click on the .kmz file.
It has a relatively low model resolution of 20k triangular faces due to the imposed limitation of Google Earth, but with relatively high resolution textures. The low model resolution is most apparent when applying the sunlight simulator function in Google Earth, but doing so is also interesting for seeing the variation in shadows.
The original 3D point cloud was created by applying the latest structure from motion research methods to a collection of 195 photographs taken from casually determined locations, followed by mesh-based surface reconstruction. The high resolution mesh was subsequently decimated to reduce the model to the required resolution. The software used were from the osm-bundler package and Meshlab.
