Moonriver’s first clutch of chicks

Our first clutch of chicks was a very happy affair as we were fortunate to have a brooding hen.  She was more than happy to sit on others’ eggs. The gestation period is about 21 days on average. We couldn’t get anywhere near them as they were fiercely protected by our three majestic white silky chooks – the ruling kings of the chicken coop.

Now, we’ll need to wait 18-20 weeks before these fluffy chicks start laying eggs of their own.
