EAT, RIDE, SLEEP, REPEAT: Mountain Bike Basic Skills Course

For adrenaline junkies and nature lovers who have always wanted to try your hand (and legs) in mountain biking, Moonriver Lodge will be hosting a 2 day mountain bike training this August!

We are working together with Asia’s premier mountain bike coaching school, Zero 2 Hero, to organise a Mountain Bike Basic Skills Course. During the course, participants will be coached by not one, but THREE very experienced mountain bikers. Anyone, even those with no experience in mountain biking, can join this course. Take this opportunity to transform yourself from Zero 2 Hero!

Mountain Bike Basic Skills Course

DATE: 9-10 August 2014
VENUE: Moonriver Lodge

ITINERARY:

Day 1

Duration: 4 hours

Objective: To be able to handle and ride a mountain bike proficiently using basic fundamental skills

  • Helmet check & fit
  • Bike safety inspection
  • Correct riding position
  • Controlled braking including emergency braking
  • Riding around small obstacles
  • Ratcheting
  • Slow riding & balance
  • Cornering & flat turns
  • Getting over small obstacles
  • Correct gear selection
  • Ascending & descending hills

Day 2

Duration: 2 – 3 hours

Objective: Trail/off-road riding to put what you have learnt to practical use

  • Trail/off-road riding at Jim Thompson Trail

A certified Sport Science & ITU Triathlon Coach. Head Coach of Ride School and an accomplished rider. Armed with 15 years of racing, he has trained and coached countless of riders and triathletes for the past 2 years. From not knowing how to ride til advanced trail riding skills coaching. An awesome bike racer with immense capacity to coach. With already 17 years of riding & racing, this usual podium placer also gives back to society by coaching and sharing his love of cycling to all. Also known as King Kenny, this amazing individual has been around since mountain biking started. Already 20 years in the sport and dabbling into wind surfing to being a global professional adventure racer. With high experience in endurance and extreme sports, King Kenny is definitely one of the guys to look out for. With 2 years of coaching and countless of riders, King Kenny definitely knows how to get you pumped up!

  •  Bicycle helmet
  • Mountain bike*
  • Elbow & knee padding (optional)
